We had told our electric company that we didn’t want a smart meter installed on our house. Just found out last night that they went ahead and installed it while we’ve been gone. Now they want us to pay extra for anything different, on top of a monthly fee. I have heard/read that these can be harmful and can make one’s home more vulnerable for intruders as they know if you are home, if you have visitors, which rooms you are in, if you’re running a business out of your home, etc. It makes us more vulnerable to the whole grid being taken down. These companies can sell any information they get from these smart meters to anyone they want. Some have gone so far to say that it will linked to a social credit system, only allowing x amount of electric based on your social credit. Evidently, some folks’ bills have been much higher w/them installed and even some catching on fire/exploding. Does anyone have any info on these and does a smart meter cage work or a whole house neutralizer? Just trying to determine what is truth and what can be done if any of this is accurate. Thanks.

September 13, 2022 at 12:05 am #15059Janet HessonI am curious about this, too. The electric company in my area offers energy assessments with access to smart thermostats to replace the manually programmable thermostats and other energy-saving modifications, appliances, etc. From what I see online, they started rolling out smart meters in 2018. I don’t see how a smart meter would be able to make homes more vulnerable to intruders, etc., but restricting electricity to a home seems very feasible. Troublesome, indeed.

Look up the definition of SMART in a dictionary – to cause a sharp pain to body or mind! Does that not explain it all? -
